Happy Mothers Day with Alix Webb Cards

How adorable and amazing are these cards?! My good friend Alix makes these beautiful cards for lots of occasions and I am absolutely in love! I wanted a really special card for Mothers Day instead of the generic cards you'd find on the high street, and Alix has definitely achieved that. They're also really affordable at £2.50 (including p+p) which for something handmade and individual is so good. There's something really special about receiving something handmade and I know my Mum is going to love this.

She has lots of different designs and styles for not only Mothers Day but birthdays and special occasions. I've already complied a list of friend's and family member's birthdays and there's no doubt I'll be purchasing some more cards soon.

You can contact her here and look at some of her recent work on her Facebook page here. Her cards are also available to buy at Delightful Decor in Chesterfield for £1.99.

I took a weekend trip to Leeds to celebrate my best friend's 23rd birthday & it was such a lovely weekend, Leeds is a beautiful city too.

What I've Been Buying

Topshop / New Look / Matalan / Matalan / Matalan / Dorothy Perkins /
Primark / Matalan

I decided to show you guys a few things I've been buying the past couple of weeks. I've been trying my very best to not over the top with spending and I actually think I've done quite well. Saying that, only two of these items were in the sale (from Matalan) but that's pretty good for me seeing as I hate shopping the sales.

As you can see there's a major theme to my buying recently... and that's vests! I just love them! The little lime green cropped one is from Topshop and I think I have five of these now in different colours. They're so comfy and easy to wear, and I practically lived in them when I went on holiday the other month. They're £6 each of two for £10 on selected ones, so its a good bargain.

The white cropped tank vest was around £12 from New Look and its so cute. I only just wore this yesterday, but I put it with my Topshop high waisted jeans and it looked really nice. The other two vests were from Matalan and Dorothy Perkins. I think the Matalan one was £12 without my discount, and the Dorothy Perkins one £16. I took a few of this style vest on holiday too and I think they're so easy to wear, plus you can dress them up too.

At the minute I have a little obsession with midi skirts too, and I've probably bought about four in the past few months. I love wearing them on a night out, so I decided to buy the striped one to try in the day too. It was £10 from Matalan, which compared to the £20 I usually spend at River Island and the huge £26 at Topshop is amazing. It's definitely a really good dupe. Another good dupe I bought were the high wasted jeans. I bought some from Topshop about a month ago and I absolutely LOVE them, I've definitely worn them out already. But anyway, I found a pair for £10 in Primark and they're actually just as good, compared to my £40 Topshop ones.

One of my favourite buys recently has been the brown Matalan sandals. I saw them at work months ago and never got round to buying them, so when I spied this pair in the sale I jumped at the chance. They were £7 reduced from £14 and they're super comfy! I'd say a good new couple of weeks of buying!

My 22nd Birthday, better late than never!

Dress - Miss Selfridge

So my 22nd birthday was literally three weeks ago, and since I've dropped off the blogging network it seems like I have a lot to blog about. This is just a little post to mainly show what I wore out for my birthday and a few of the best snaps from the night. The day before my best friend surprised me with an amazing Spa morning at the Center Parcs in Sherwood Forest. I'd never been before and it was so amazing to literally relax in steam rooms, outdoor pools and jacuzzi's all morning before having a big night out.

I was feeling majorly old from turning 22 but you can always count on friends to cheer you up. The song '22' by Taylor Swift was a very fitting theme tune for that night, which the girls persisted to request in EVERY single place we went. Somehow, I felt less old dancing around to Taylor Swift...

My Mini Adventure - The Warner Bros Studio Tour

I thought I'd give a little insight into what I've been up to for the past few days, and why I haven't been blogging as much. Me and my boyfriend swanned off to London for a few days after Valentines Day and decided to do something totally different... visit the Warner Bros Studio Tour. My boyfriend is a huge Harry Potter fan so I thought this would be the perfect thing to do, and I was also quite excited to see what it was like. We booked an amazing De Vere Hotel ten minutes away from the studios in Leavesden called Hunton Park, it was absolutely beautiful!

The hotel is set in beautiful grounds and the main building itself is gorgeous. The rooms were so lovely too, and to be honest I was very impressed with the whole hotel. The food was so good too. We opted for food in the Bar area instead of the three course restaurant, but it definitely wasn't your typical bar or pub food. The hotel also had a huge list of spa treatments on offer from massages to manicures, I just wish I had enough time to try them out.

We headed to the Warner Bros Studio Tour on Friday and there are really no other words to describe it other than absolutely amazing. You book your tickets online and choose a tour time, but when you actually get to the studios most of the tour is self-guided anyway. I won't go too much into what they have there but as you can see from my photos its basically crammed full of Harry Potter props, costumes and entire sets. It was so bizarre walking around the Great Hall and thinking 'they actually used this in filming', or seeing all the costumes and props that were actually used. Admittedly I'm not a HUGE Harry Potter fan, but after visiting the studios

I definitely have a new found love. I wish I could include all the photos I took from the tour but this blog post would be so huge. I would recommend this for absolutely anyone, even if you're not a massive fan like me. It really is such a brilliant experience.

The Easiest Cookies, Ever!

This is literally the best thing I have come across in a LONG time, I think I got a little too excited about the whole thing really. Anyway, I know this is a bit of a different post to my usual ones but I've decided I'm going to try and add some varied content to littlegoldstars. My friend told me that you could buy cookie dough in a tube agers ago from Sainsburys but because I never ever go in, I just haven't had the chance to try it. Cookies/cookie dough is my absolute favourite and an absolute weakness. I saw this in Tesco a few weeks ago and was so excited that you could buy cookie dough! I think it is usually about £3.50 ish but it happened to be on offer for £1.50 so I jumped at the chance.

I started off eating little bits straight from the tub (its amazing) until deciding that I should actually try and cook them. I'm not a baker or a cook and I rarely step foot in the kitchen, but honestly these were the easiest thing to do and they tasted amazing. All you do is take out the cookie dough and warm it in your hands until its a little softer, or I guess you could pop it in the microwave for a few seconds. You then tear off little pieces and mould them into balls, place on a baking tray and pop in the oven. Simple! On the instructions it says to leave them for 12-15 minutes I think, but obviously if you want them a bit chewy you leave them in a little longer.

My dad got involved while I was trialing this and has the idea of literally cutting slices from the actual chunk of cookie dough. These were obviously bigger than my correctly done balls of dough and consequently multiplied in size while cooking. We ended up with normal sized cookies and giant ones, but to be honest it didn't matter because they were both amazing. They also do ginger bread and chocolate brownie packs too so I'll definitely be trying those soon!
